MEDIA ALERT: NADA CEO AVAILABLE FOR INTERVIEW AT DRUG SUMMIT

Network of Alcohol and other Drugs Agencies (NADA) < 1 mins read

Wednesday 4 December 2024

WHAT: The Network of Alcohol and Drugs Agencies (NADA) CEO Dr Robert Stirling is available for interviews during the two-day Sydney Drug Summit at the ICC on 4 and 5 December.

Dr Stirling has been a vocal advocate for reform in NSW alcohol and other drugs policy, urging the government to adopt a health-based approach. This means changing our approach to personal use of drugs so that if people are experiencing issues, they feel safe to ask for help. This also means removing barriers to treatment by increasing funding to expand access to support services.

NADA believes the Summit presents a crucial opportunity for the government to take decisive action.

NCOSS AND WESLEY MISSION RESPONSE TO GAMING REFORM PANEL REPORT

Tuesday, 3 December 2024 NCOSS and Wesley Mission have welcomed the release of the Independent Panel on Gaming Reform Report and doubled down on the call for mandatory cashless gambling, with robust harm minimisation measures built in. NCOSS CEO Cara Varian said the poker machine industry makes billions of dollars every year at the expense of the 1.7 million NSW people who directly or indirectly experience gambling harm[1]. “While an industry has the right to protect its interests, the NSW Government has a duty to act in the best interests of its citizens, and that requires bold action on gambling…
