The following can be attributed to Professor Srikanth:

“Dementia is a condition that causes substantial disability and mortality among those affected and places immense pressure and stress on their care-partners.

“There is an important need to build awareness about the condition, reduce the stigma associated with it, improve the way we monitor and reduce the risk of dementia in the population, and establish excellent systems of care and healthcare that are accessible and available to all Australians.

“The National Dementia Action Plan sets out a clear roadmap for achieving these objectives and thus improving the lives of people affected by dementia.”

ADHD drug shows promise for treating methamphetamine dependence, landmark Australian study shows

A prescription medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) could be repurposed as the first pharmacotherapy for people with methamphetamine dependence, according to a study published in Addiction. Results from the landmark ‘LiMA’ trial show that thepsychostimulant lisdexamfetamine can drastically reduce the need to use methamphetamine among those who are dependent on the illicit drug.
