In the spirit of giving, GMHBA is proud to support a special movie night out for Warrnambool families feeling the cost-of-living pressures in the lead up to Christmas.

The festive event is hosted by Meli, a not-for-profit organisation that offers a range of support and education services to people living in the Wimmera South West region of Victoria including Warrnambool and Horsham.

Tickets for people who want to attend will only cost $10, and donations and profits from ticket sales will be converted into e-gift cards for distribution to families in need, ensuring they can experience the joy of Christmas with dignity and choice.

Support from GMHBA, Australia’s leading not-for-profit regional health insurer, will enable 25 local families to attend the event free of charge, creating moments of connection, joy, and magic during a time when they’re needed most.

“Christmas is a time for hope and togetherness, and we’re delighted to partner with Meli to make this special event accessible to families who may be doing it tough,” said GMHBA spokesperson Meg Rayner.

Set to take place at Warrnambool’s Capitol Cinema this Saturday 7 December, the event invites attendees to embrace the Christmas spirit by dressing in festive costumes, with spot prizes adding extra fun to the day. Children can enjoy glitter tattoos from 2pm before the movie, and all tickets include tasty movie snacks. Movie-goers will enjoy the enchanting film A Boy Called Christmas, a magical origin story of Santa Claus, following young Nikolas on his extraordinary adventure to find the fabled village of the elves. The film promises laughter, adventure, and holiday spirit for the whole family.

For immediate release 16 Jan 2025 The findings in the Climate Council’s reportElectric Shock! Electric Shock: Half of NSW in the dark on renewable energy progress, knowledge gap risks slowing transition

16th of January 2024 AUSTRALIANS ARE UNDERESTIMATING the speed and scale of our switch to renewable power. New South Wales is in the midst of a clean energy boom as four-fifths of our electricity is set to come from renewable sources by 2030, and all of our ageing coal-fired power stations closing by 2040. However, new Essential Research polling commissioned by the Climate Council—Electric Shock! Australia’s Lightbulb Moment—shows a glaring knowledge gap that risks undermining trust in the energy transition.
