STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party set for this Sunday!

STEPS 2 mins read

The 2024 STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party is set for this Sunday 8 December from 9am – 2pm at the Kawana Sports Precinct.

Despite poor weather impacting the original date, STEPS is committed to delivering the annual family-focused and inclusive Christmas celebration to the Sunshine Coast community.

STEPS Managing Director Carmel Crouch said the STEPS team was determined to ensure the local community, especially families with children with a disability and autism, could attend the iconic event once again.

“We are resolute in our commitment to do everything in our power to hold our annual STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party. Local families who have children with a disability and autism often can’t attend other events and look forward to this party since it’s the one time each year that they are able to relax knowing their children are safe and happy,” she said.

“The rain and postponement of the initial date for the event has not dampened our spirits. In fact, it has strengthened our resolve to provide local families with the event they deserve and the smiles on the children’s faces on the day will make it all worthwhile.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party and can expect rides, water slides, a petting zoo, a rock-climbing wall, a chance to meet and have their photo taken with Santa, and more fun activities, along with food available to fuel up for an exciting day.

Inclusive features at the event include an enclosed area for safety and peace-of-mind, limited entry and exit points, supportive and friendly volunteers to assist families, shade and seating, and quiet zones.

Ms Crouch says that she is grateful for the outpouring of support from the STEPS team, volunteers, sponsors — including major sponsor The Fleet Office — and members of the community who all contribute to making the day so special.

Tickets to the STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party are available online at stepspathwayscharity.com.au. Ticket bundles are on offer for families and the entry price is inclusive of all activities excluding food.

For immediate release 16 Jan 2025 The findings in the Climate Council’s reportElectric Shock! Rural and regional communities are crying out for more information to help them navigate the energy shift where they live. “The Climate Council’s recent research found that more than 80% of people want more information about how our energy system is changing,” says RE-Alliance National Director Andrew Bray. “Local…

Electric Shock: Half of NSW in the dark on renewable energy progress, knowledge gap risks slowing transition

16th of January 2024 AUSTRALIANS ARE UNDERESTIMATING the speed and scale of our switch to renewable power. New South Wales is in the midst of a clean energy boom as four-fifths of our electricity is set to come from renewable sources by 2030, and all of our ageing coal-fired power stations closing by 2040. However, new Essential Research polling commissioned by the Climate Council—Electric Shock! Australia’s Lightbulb Moment—shows a glaring knowledge gap that risks undermining trust in the energy transition. Addressing this gap is key to empowering New South Wales to embrace and benefit from the increasing momentum of renewable…
