Following a successful 2024 partnership between Thiess and the Newcastle Knights NRLW team, built on shared values of excellence, teamwork, and community support, Thiess will continue as the top-back-of-jersey sponsor in 2025.
The women’s team had a successful season, making it to the semi-finals where they secured an impressive third place on the ladder.
Among the season’s highlights was the NSW Mining Voice for Mining Family Day in September, where miners, families, and Newcastle Knights fans were united to celebrate the vital role played by both the mining industry and the Knights in the community.
Earlier this year, Thiess welcomed the NRLW Newcastle Knights players to the Mt Arthur South site for a special tour where they experienced firsthand the operations and innovations that drive Thiess forward.
Thiess recognises athletes’ unique challenges in balancing professional careers with elite sports.
Scott McGeachie, Operations Director, Australia East Operations said: "Thiess and the NRLW Newcastle Knights share a rich foundation of values, particularly in our mutual support for the Hunter Valley, a region rich in history and community spirit where we have proudly operated for over 80 years. The team had an outstanding season in 2024, and we’re pleased to be continuing our support through 2025."
Philip Gardiner, CEO of the Newcastle Knights said: “Our partnership with Thiess reflects a strong alignment of values, including excellence, teamwork, and a deep commitment to our community. The continuation of this partnership into 2025 demonstrates the shared pride we take in the success of our NRLW team and the positive impact we can create together.
“Thiess has been an outstanding partner, not just in their sponsorship but in their genuine support for our players and the broader Newcastle community. Their commitment to backing our NRLW side highlights their belief in the power of sport to inspire and connect.
“We are delighted to once again have their support for the 2025 season.” Philip said.
The NRLW season kicks off in July 2025 with the introduction of two new teams to the competition. We look forward to supporting the NRLW Newcastle Knights as they take on new challenges and strive for a place in the Grand Final.
