Step2 Foundation 2 mins read

Step2 Foundation invites you to the Art Gallery of NSW on the evening of Friday 7 March to “Empower Her Future,” an event to help raise women and girls out of poverty in Siem Reap, Cambodia and celebrate International Women’s Day 2025.

The evening will feature inspiring stories from Cambodian women and girls who have benefited from grassroots charity, Step2 Foundation, which was set up by Sydney woman Zeynep Roberts after a trip to the country 12 years ago. Roberts vowed to help after seeing a small village, Syaychey, near Siem Reap, struggling to provide even basic needs for its children, such as clean water and schooling.

Step2 Foundation built a school in Syaychey that now has 14 teachers, nine classrooms, a library, toilet block, water purification plant, electricity, kitchen and football pitch. The foundation plans  to build more schools in nearby villages.

There will be a panel discussion at the event hosted by Emma Rossi, highly respected journalist, broadcaster, women’s advocate, founder of Mary’s House refuge for women & children. The panel will consist of:

  • Catherine Harris, AO PSM FAICD, Chairperson of Harris Farm, Honorary Consul Bhutan since 2004 and director in number of high-profile organisations including National Gallery of Australia, The Australian Ballet and UNSW Business School.
  • Sue Bolton, International Leadership Coach and Global Product Strategist who has held senior management positions with some of the world’s most renowned organizations, including Netflix, McGraw Hill Education, and Lionsgate
  • Caroline Juridic., Director of Programs, Dana Asia and Zeynep Roberts, Founder and Director of Step2 Foundation.

Join us for a great night of celebrating and hearing life-changing stories. It will also provide a great opportunity to network with your peers and other Australian women of influence in business, academia and social enterprise.

There will be a silent auction, a raffle and items for sale to benefit the project, such as luxurious pashminas in beautiful colours.

The aim of the night is to raise funds to enable 25 girls start primary school in 2025 in Cambodia. Even a small donation can really help.

Cost is $185 and includes a selection of fine wines and delicious food. Tickets are available via this link: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1341898
