Family First welcomes pause on plying children with cross-sex hormones

Family First 2 mins read

After years of fighting to protect children from experimental gender treatments, Family First welcomes the Queensland government’s belated decision to pause the use of dangerous cross sex hormones on children.

The move came after a clinic in Cairns was found to allegedly be prescribing cross-sex hormones to 12-year-olds without parental consent, Family First’s lead Queensland Senate candidate Katie Lush said.

“The evidence against the harm child gender clinics have been causing to gender confused children has been overwhelming for years,” Ms Lush said.

“It’s a scandal that it has taken this long for at least one Australian government to act.”

Ms Lush said it was well-known that Australian gender clinics prescribed harmful puberty blockers to children as young as 10 and that so-called ‘Safe Schools’ material had urged children to have gender surgery ‘with or without parental consent’.

“What is happening to gender-confused children is the biggest medical scandal since Thalidomide.”

Ms Lush called on all Australian state governments to go further and follow the UK’s lead and ban puberty blockers and mutilating gender surgery on children.

“For too long Liberal and Labor governments have ignored the overseas evidence from eminent psychologists like Dr Hilary Cass whose work has led to the cessation of experimental gender treatments on children.

“Here in Australia brave whistle blowers like child psychiatrist Dr Jillian Spencer have lost their jobs. She should be reinstated to her role at the Queensland Children’s Hospital immediately and be paid compensation.

“It’s time for politicians to pull their heads out of the sand.”

LGBTIQA+ political activists have driven medical protocols for too long based on the lie that gender is fluid.

Ms Lush called on all Australian political leaders to implement policy which recognises the truth that there are only two genders.

“The Queensland LNP’s move today makes it harder for Peter Dutton to sustain his opposition to restoring gender sanity.”

Family First’s Senate team, which also includes Lyle Shelton (NSW), Bernie Finn (Vic), Elizabeth Kikkert (ACT) and Christopher Brohier (SA) is fighting to restore two genders in public policy in Australia.

Sunny Day as Queensland’s Supercharged Solar for Renters Launched

A collection of social service, faith and environmental groups have welcomed the launch of the Queensland Government’s Supercharged Solar for Renters scheme. The Power Together coalition, including the Queensland Conservation Council, Parents for Climate and Energetic Communities, have long called on the Queensland Government to help all Queenslanders, particularly renters and social housing tenants, access affordable solar energy to reduce their power bills and emissions. This comes as recently released research from Monash University found that solar systems increase Brisbane property values by an average of $30,000. According to the groups, the Crisafulli Government now needs to expand support to…

Energy legislation sends Queensland backwards and puts clean energy and Reef jobs at risk

The Crisafulli Government has sent Queensland backwards and put clean energy and Reef jobs at risk with the legislation to deliver a new Energy Roadmap, said WWF-Australia. The Queensland Government tonight passed legislation that will scrap Queensland's renewable energy targets and extend the life of ageing and unreliable coal fired power stations. “This is a dangerous backward step for Queensland,” said Ariane Wilkinson, Senior Manager of Climate and Energy Policy, WWF-Australia. “Delaying coal closures indefinitely will have serious consequences for Queenslanders. Regional communities need clear timelines to plan ahead and secure the clean energy jobs of the future. “This legislation…

TALENT ALERT: Experts warn Queensland’s Energy Roadmap risks higher bills, weaker reliability and lost jobs

9th December 2025 The State Government is planning to legislate their Energy Roadmap this week – weakening Queensland's renewable energy commitments and extending the life of ageing coal fired power stations. Leading energy, investor, conservation and community experts have warned the new energy bill risks leaving households exposed to higher electricity costs and pushing clean energy investment interstate. Instead of a clear transition pathway, the roadmap removes legislated renewable energy targets, delays the replacement of ageing coal-fired power stations, and gives the Minister broad discretion over the state’s future generating mix – decisions experts say will undermine investor confidence and…
