Memory Walk & Jog is coming back to Adelaide!

Dementia Australia 3 mins read

Dementia Australia’s largest annual fundraising event, Memory Walk & Jog, is heading back to Adelaide to help raise much-needed funds in support of people living with dementia, their families and carers.

This year walkers, runners and joggers will set off on Sunday 6 April at Wigley Reserve, Glenelg to raise money, awareness and to get active for their brain health.

Dementia Australia Ambassador Nicola Stevens laid down a challenge for the community of Adelaide calling on more people than ever to get involved in Memory Walk & Jog by either walking, running, volunteering, donating or supporting 2025 participants.

“Memory Walk and Jog creates a space for you to feel connected to others, knowing that you are not alone. The powerful act of showing up, without even saying a word can mean the world,” Nicola said.

“The more conversations we can have about dementia and the more we can do to educate others, will help to best support those impacted by dementia.”

This year Dementia Australia hopes to have a record-breaking number of people sign up to participate across Australia, helping to raise more than $2 million to fund invaluable support, education and services for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Dementia Australia CEO Professor Tanya Buchanan said that communities participating in Memory Walk & Jog play an integral role in helping to deliver services and increasing awareness of dementia.

“There are more than 24,600 people living with dementia in the Adelaide Metropolitan region,” Professor Buchanan said.

“Not only does Memory Walk & Jog help raise vital funds but it is an important opportunity to continue a national discussion about dementia and for everyone to get active and socially connect– two key things we can do to help reduce our risk of dementia.”

Registrations are open now for the 2025 Memory Walk & Jog event in Adelaide and across Australia. More details can be found at www.memorywalk.com.au/event/adelaide.

Monday February 10 Big boost for women’s health is positive, but reproductive health leave is needed The federal government’s $573 million dollar package to improve access to reproductive health services for women is being warmly received by the Health Services Union. But the union has cautioned there is still work to be done, including the establishment of universal reproductive health leave. “This package is definitely a great step, and well overdue. This money will go a long way in helping create a more equitable health system for women,” Health Services Union’s national senior assistant secretary Kate Marshall said. As part…
