The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has supported Wesley Mission’s Youth Hub Summer Olympics for a sixth year, serving 180 meals to hungry competitors at the annual school holiday event on the Gold Coast.

Wesley Mission invited kids aged between 12-17 from its Youth Hubs to compete in range of fun activities with the goal of being declared the Youth Hub Summer Olympic Champion.

A group of eight RRT volunteers from Brisbane served up a barbeque lunch, including their Signature Burgers, to keep the young competitors energised and enjoying themselves.

RRT Local Team Leader Stephen Taylor said the volunteers had a great day on the grill cooking up RRT’s Signature Burgers, while the kids battled it out in activities like running races and tug-of-war.

“This is the sixth year the Rapid Relief Team has been part of the Wesley Mission’s Youth Hub Summer Olympics, and it is always such a fun event to support,” said Stephen.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for kids to get out and get active during the school holidays in a safe environment, and the Rapid Relief Team is happy to be able to help out Wesley Mission and their cause.”

The Youth Hubs that took part included Thrower House, Palm Beach, Upper Coomera, Nerang, Pacific Pines, Pimpama, and Runaway Bay.

Wesley Mission Queensland provides free school holiday activities for children and teenagers, including the annual Summer Olympics, with the support of the City of Gold Coast.

As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community.

Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 14,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
