Australia’s Safety Standards Get a Bold New Look with Total Image Group’s Red High-Vis Workwear

Sydney, [February 25] – Total Image Group (TIG), Australia's leading uniform and branding provider, has achieved an industry milestone by creating the nation’s first-ever red high-visibility (Hi-Vis) garments for client Smartways, a medical logistics provider. This groundbreaking innovation aligns with the client's brand identity while meeting the rigorous safety standards of the Australian and New Zealand market.

Their corporate colours, red and navy, had to be integrated into the design while ensuring compliance with stringent Hi-Vis standards. Determined to provide a solution, TIG designed and developed a Hi-Vis range featuring red garments—a first in the Australian market.

“Bringing this project to life shows our dedication to innovation and customisation,” said Pamela Jabbour, CEO of Total Image Group. “We took on the challenge of creating safety-compliant red Hi-Vis garments to ensure our client’s teams could stay on-brand while meeting site regulations.”

TIG worked closely with Smartways to create a range of garments that were both functional and visually aligned with the brand. The process involved incorporating their corporate colours with red as the primary Hi-Vis element, complemented by navy trim, collars, and cuffs. The team sourced a fabric similar to the client’s existing uniform to ensure comfort and durability, while also working with SGS to ensure the garments met AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 standards for Hi-Vis day use.

The custom Hi-Vis range includes red Hi-Vis polo shirts for delivery drivers, eliminating the need for additional vests onsite, and red reversible vests with reflective tape for office staff, ensuring a cohesive brand image across all roles.

Developing safety-compliant Hi-Vis garments in red was no small feat. TIG dedicated 12 months to finding the perfect shade of red that would pass safety tests while staying vibrant. By dyeing the fabric rather than sublimating it, the garments achieve greater longevity and durability.

TIG launched a seamless rollout for Smartways by introducing a new online platform and providing personalised packaging for each employee, ensuring an efficient and smooth transition. “We couldn’t be happier with the results of this collaboration,” said Steve Cheetham, Marketing Director at Smartways. “The team at Total Image Group worked closely with us every step of the way, ensuring our vision was brought to life. The red Hi-Vis uniforms have been a huge success with our staff, who appreciate both the comfort and practicality. Not only do they meet safety standards, but they also perfectly represent our brand identity.”

This milestone represents Total Image Group’s commitment to pushing boundaries in the uniform industry. By merging brand alignment with safety compliance, TIG has once again proven its ability to deliver custom, innovative solutions for its clients.
