Compact multipurpose new EziJac tensioners reduce complexity while enhancing speed and safety with multiple bolt type tightening

Technofast Industries 2 mins read

New ranges of single-stage hydraulic tensioning technologies from Technofast compactly and uniformly increase bolt pre-load capacities on mining and green energy equipment by up to 40 per cent, reducing maintenance and increasing safety.

The latest Technofast EziJac tensioners increase joint security and durability on machinery and engines for equipment including wind turbine foundations, cranes, slew bearing applications, engines re-builds for Caterpillar, Hitachi, Komatsu, Hastings Deering and HE Parts and for Liebherr equipment, including their large cranes and mining machinery.

The new EziJac tools – the latest members of the proven EziJac family - reduce setup times and eliminate tool selection complexity by precisely tensioning RMS and RMZ hex nuts using the corresponding bridge piece, (2.0 fine pitch) stud puller and nut rotator, says Technofast Founder, John Bucknell.

The versatile tools can also tension IHF and conventional hex nuts with an alternate bridge, stud puller (3.5 coarse pitch) and corresponding nut rotator. The tool’s load cell allows for various adaptor kits from Technofast that retain a common gear drive that can be used across multiple fastening tasks.

The new tensioners cost-efficiently replace earlier types of hydraulic tensioners in widespread use globally. They feature technologies proven worldwide in in Technofast’s EziJac B3S bolt tensioner, says John Bucknell.

EziJacs incorporate compact high-pressure hydraulics to tension bolts to the exact load required to help ensure optimum life and maintenance-free performance, thereby reducing downtime and OH&S risks involved in servicing heavy machinery.

The integrated EziJac nut capacity, with precise dual thread puller functionality, delivers a complete system to end users, meaning less tooling is required to complete complex tasks quicker, safer and more efficiently.

Such a configuration ensures a solid base for tensioning to occur, with the nut having bottomed out before stretching the stud and locking down of the nut, which ensures   optimum accuracy

The new EziJac tools, rated at 627 kN, has higher kN ratings than standard comparable fasteners and, in addition to M30 nuts, can also handle M27 and M24 installations.

Advantages of the hydraulic fasteners’ stretching and locking of bolts, rather than torquing them, include:

  • No torsion or bending forces within the bolts during the bolting process, which extends the life of the bolts.

  • Freedom from both friction and torsion ensure reproducible pre-tensioning forces within close tolerances

  • Hydraulic pressure input of the bolt tensioning cylinder has a linear relationship to the pre-tensioning force output, which leads to a high degree of reproducibility.

  • High pre-tensioning forces can be achieved with compact tool dimensions

“Our new EziJac Tooling delivers a major breakthrough in design and functionality providing the end users with a guaranteed high quality compact tensioning system backed by a 5000-cycle service plan,” says John Bucknell.
