EVC backs NSW government’s investment in EV-friendly road trips

Electric Vehicle Council < 1 min read

The NSW government’s investment in EV charging stations on nine iconic road trips will make it easier for Australians to explore the state in an EV while supporting sustainable tourism, according to the Electric Vehicle Council.

The EV-friendly routes take drivers through some of NSW’s top tourist destinations, including the Central Coast to the Hunter Valley, the Southern Highlands to the South Coast, and Sydney to the Blue Mountains.

EVC Chief Executive Julie Delvecchio said charging stations are strategically placed every 100km or less.

“This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking approach we need to accelerate EV adoption across Australia,” Ms Delvecchio said.

“Range anxiety has been a barrier to EV uptake, and by making it easier for drivers to see where they can travel and charge, this initiative directly addresses that concern. While many new EVs can travel 400km on a single charge, initiatives like these tackle concerns about range anxiety head on.”

Ms Delvecchio said EV-friendly routes bring economic opportunities to regional economies.

“Unlike traditional highways that can divert traffic, this initiative brings people into regional communities — encouraging stops at cafes, shops, and attractions, making regional travel even more appealing. This is a win-win for drivers, businesses, and sustainability.”

The NSW government’s nine EV-friendly road trips launch as WA completes Australia’s longest connected EV-charging highway.

The WA EV Network – spanning Mundrabilla near the SA border all the way to Kununurra near the NT border – has 110 charging points across 49 locations.

NSW Education Minister needs a plan for community preschools

12 March 2026 The union representing teachers in early childhood education and care in NSW and the ACT calls on the NSW government to guarantee the future of community preschools by immediately boosting funding to lift the pay and conditions of teachers and educators in the sector. NSW Deputy Premier and Education Minister Prue Car on 11 March told a Budget Estimates hearing that the state government would review funding for community preschools as recommended by the Fair Work Commission (FWC). But the Minister also claimed, despite clear evidence presented by the union and accepted by the FWC, that community…

RFNSW calls for fuel security for NSW freight operators

Peak body Road Freight NSW (RFNSW) has warned that escalating hostilities in the Middle East are continuing to drive-up petrol and diesel prices across Australia and today called on the Albanese Government to ensure adequate, consistent fuel supply for freight operators. RFNSW Chief Executive Officer Simon O’Hara said any sustained rise in global oil prices would lead to higher prices at the bowser, increasing the cost of transporting groceries, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, agriculture and other essential goods. “Diesel is the life blood of the freight industry and is by far, the biggest operating cost for trucking operators, who move the…

Dicing with death: survey reveals 40 per cent of young workers get no safety training

A new survey of young workers reveals almost four in ten respondents (39.8%) received no safety training when they started a new job while more than half (50.2%) never had their work health and safety (WHS) rights explained to them. Unions NSW, which conducted the survey, said it revealed a dangerously lax attitude to safety among employers. “Parents, employers, and policymakers should be concerned. But most importantly, young workers need to hear this message: if your boss is not giving you safety training or explaining your rights, they are dicing with death,” said Unions NSW Campaigns Officer, Caitlin Marlor. “We…
