GMHBA, Australia’s leading regional not-for-profit private health insurer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dee McGrath and Dr Rachel Swift to its board of directors from 1 February 2025.

These highly-respected additions to the board bring valuable expertise to GMHBA at a time when the industry faces rising cost pressures, ever-increasing customer expectations, and the need for digital transformation to remain competitive.

Dee McGrath brings deep experience in financial services, technology, and digital transformation. She has had a senior career in technology in both listed and foreign owned corporations and has a thorough understanding of the highly regulated environment in which GMHBA operates. She has significant involvement with boards and is an advisor to Revolut, fintech/payments provider.

Her proven ability to enhance customer experience, drive operational efficiency, and lead large-scale technology integration will be invaluable as GMHBA adapts to shifting consumer demands and improves service delivery.

“It is a privilege to be working with the GMHBA management team and board I am looking forward to adding my experience to the transformation and sustainable performance of the company by building on the member value and contributing to the communities in which we operate,” Ms McGrath said.

Dr Rachel Swift’s international career has been at the interface of health care, corporate strategy and innovation, including a decade at The Boston Consulting Group. Most recently she was the General Manager Strategy, Innovation and Ventures at HCF.

She is an accomplished senior executive and board director, with proven expertise developing strategies, driving growth, and translating concepts into tangible results.

Her insights into emerging health trends, strategic thinking, and fostering innovation will support GMHBA in navigating industry pressures such as rising healthcare costs, regulatory change, and the demand for accessible, member-focused solutions.

“Now is a critical time for health insurance and the health system more broadly in Australia. I look forward to working with the talented team at GMHBA to navigate challenges, embrace innovation, and strengthen our role as a leader in member-focused health care. Health care is personal and I’m excited by the opportunity to contribute to GMHBA, where every decision is made in our members’ best interests” Dr Swift said.

GMHBA Board Chair Claire Higgins said she is delighted to welcome the two accomplished leaders to GMHBA’s board.

“Dee and Rachel bring a wealth of expertise and leadership in healthcare, finance, and technology which will be invaluable as we navigate our future through growth and transformation, whilst keeping our members at the centre of all we do,” she said.
