MEU comment about $9 million fine for Callide Power Station

Mining and Energy Union QLD District < 1 mins read

"The Mining & Energy Union acknowledges the findings of today’s Supreme Court’s decision, to fine the Callide Power Station $9 million in relation to the catastrophic 2021 explosion of the C4 unit," MEU QLD District President Mitch Hughes said.

"We welcome the fact that action has been taken over this serious incident.

"It is deeply disappointing that a lack of maintenance and oversight led to this preventable disaster which risked the lives of workers. We hope that today’s judgement sends a strong message to all companies in the industry."
