The Customer Owned Banking Code Compliance Committee (COBCCC) welcomes the appointment of Ms Danielle Press as its new Chair.

Ms Press is currently Chair and Non-Executive Director of Insignia Financial Trustees, and brings extensive experience in financial services, corporate governance, and regulatory oversight to her new role with the COBCCC.

She has held executive leadership roles across commercial, government, and not-for-profit sectors, including a five-year term as a Commissioner at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

Prior to her time at ASIC, Ms Press was CEO at The Myer Family Company, CEO at Equipsuper and Managing Director at UBS Global Asset Management.

“I am excited to join the COBCCC and support its important work in promoting strong compliance with the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice,” Ms Press said. “I look forward to working with industry and consumer representatives to ensure that customer-owned banking institutions uphold the highest standards of service and integrity.”

As Chair of the COBCCC, Ms Press will oversee the Committee’s work in monitoring compliance with the Code, identifying industry-wide issues and driving improvements in banking practices that benefit customers.

“With my background in regulation, corporate governance, and financial services, I hope to bring a balanced perspective that considers both consumer protection and sustainable business practices,” Ms Press said. “I am eager to contribute to the Committee’s efforts in fostering trust and accountability in the sector.”

Ms Press will take over from outgoing Chair Ms Jocelyn Furlan, who finished her second three-year term in February 2025.

The COBCCC thanks Ms Furlan for her leadership and valuable contributions during her six years in the role. She brought a wealth of expertise that helped the COBCCC to strengthen its oversight of the Code and drive improvements in compliance to better protect customers.

Ms Press’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the Committee as it continues to support good governance and strong compliance in customer-owned banking.

She commences her tenure on 19 February 2025.

The appointment of the Chair is made by both the Board of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority and the Board of the Customer Owned Banking Association.
