Rabobank announces appointment of new Group Executive Wholesale Banking

Rabobank 2 mins read

Rabobank has announced the appointment of David Barraclough to the position of Group Executive Wholesale Australia and New Zealand, effective from February 3 this year.

In this role, Mr Barraclough will be responsible for the bank’s Wholesale business, which provides banking and financial services to leading food and agribusiness corporations and their value chains across Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Barraclough, who has worked in Rabobank’s Wholesale banking division for more than 20 years, takes over the position from Lizette Sint, who has been appointed to a new role in the bank’s global Wholesale banking business line, based in the Netherlands.

Announcing the appointment, Rabobank Australia and New Zealand regional manager Mark Wiessing said Mr Barraclough’s integral involvement in the development of Rabobank’s Wholesale banking business in the region over the past two decades made him ideally well placed to take on this new position.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of David’s expertise and experience within Rabobank’s own local regional operations to take over this key role,” Mr Wiessing said.

“David has been closely involved in the delivery and development of Rabobank’s Wholesale business in Australia and New Zealand for more than 20 years. He has a deep knowledge and understanding of food and agribusiness and of the business needs of corporate clients in this sector.

“David’s local and global networks within the food and agribusiness sector are second to none, he is a passionate advocate for the F&A sector, and he brings enormous expertise, business acumen and leadership credentials to the role.”

Mr Barraclough, who holds a degree in agricultural economics, has 30 years’ experience in agricultural banking and financial services.

He joined Rabobank in 2004 and has worked in a range of roles in the Wholesale banking division. For the past six and a half years, he has held the position of Co-Head Corporate Banking for Rabobank in Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Barraclough said Rabobank held a strong position banking many of the leading food and agribusiness companies in Australia and New Zealand, and he was “proud to be leading the team going forward”.

“The bank’s active involvement in supporting businesses along the full supply chain from farm to plate enables us to have unique insights and market knowledge. And our Wholesale banking business complements Rabobank’s broader service proposition for the ag sector,” he said.

Mr Wiessing thanked former Group Executive Wholesale Lizette Stint for her significant contribution to the growth and development of Rabobank’s Wholesale banking business in the region, during her more than three years in the role.
