Rapid Relief Team supports Penrith Community Kitchen to keep cooking during closure

Rapid Relief Team 2 mins read

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has stepped in to help another charitable organisation, Penrith Community Kitchen, to ensure no one in need went hungry when the kitchen had to temporarily close for renovations.

Penrith Community Kitchen has been providing free, nourishing meals in a safe and friendly location since 1994, and recently raised funds for a kitchen renovation.

RRT Local Team Leader Brian Lee said RRT was happy to help Penrith Community Kitchen to ensure free meals were still available to anyone in need during the construction period.

“The Rapid Relief Team has been supporting Penrith Community Kitchen during its temporary closure, with our volunteers serving around 40 meals a day for three weeks,” said Brian.

“Penrith Community Kitchen envisions a community where everyone cares for each other, offering support and aid to those in need – and that is what the Rapid Relief Team is all about as well.”

Penrith Community Kitchen Secretary Gai Hawthorne said RRT’s support has meant the doors have remained open.

“RRT has a great reputation in the local community, and we knew we could rely on RRT for their support so we could continue to feed people in need,” said Gai.

“Our renovated kitchen will be wonderful, but we would have had to close for three weeks if it wasn’t for RRT – they have been so reliable, and their menu is sensational!”

The RRT volunteers spent this morning cooking breakfast for Channel 7’s Sunrise crew for the live weather broadcast from the Penrith Community Kitchen.

As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community. Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,000 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events. Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman

NEW PROTECTIONS WILL BLUNT ‘TOO SHARP BY HALF’ CONDUCT THAT HARMS SMALL BUSINESSES

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) has enthusiastically welcomed the Australian Government’s commitment to introduce protections for small and family businesses harmed by unfair business trading practices. Mr Billson said this commitment will reassure small and family businesses that they can invest, innovate, take risks, compete and create jobs and opportunities without being unfairly ‘done over’ by a more powerful business because there is a ‘gaping hole in the law’. “Sadly, too many of the more than 50,000 small businesses ASBFEO has assisted with dispute resolution and business concerns have been real-life cases where another business with…
