Re-light Opera House with Israeli flag to fight antisemitism

Family First Party < 1 mins read

The Opera House sails should be re-lit with the Israeli flag to prove that antisemitism can’t win.

Family First lead Senate Candidate for New South Wales Lyle Shelton said it was a mistake to capitulate to the genocidal chanting mob which disgraced Australia on the steps of the Opera House in the wake of the October 7 massacre, rapes and kidnappings.

“This week’s echoes of the holocaust in the emaciated faces of released Jewish hostages underscore the disgrace that night of infamy brought upon Australia.

“Re-lighting the sails in solidarity with Israel would send a powerful message that there’s no place for antisemitism in Australia.

“With the Opera House sails lit, the Prime Minister and the NSW Premier should stand on the steps and hold a rally in support of the Jewish people.

“To not be able to hold such an event would simply prove that supporters of terrorism and antisemitism have prevailed in Australia.

“Since the days when Labor’s Doc Evatt helped create the state of Israel, Australia has been a firm ally.

“We cannot be intimidated into not celebrating that friendship on our most iconic building in Israel’s hour of need and when Australian Jews fear for their lives and property.

“If we could light the sails with the French flag when 130 people were killed by Islamic State, or in sympathy for the Muslim victims of the Christchurch massacre, surely we can light them for 1200 Jews killed in an attempt to repeat the holocaust?”

MEU: Coal communities need stability and consistency following Net Zero Commission report

The Mining and Energy Union has responded to the NSW Net Zero Commission’s Coal Mining Emissions Spotlight Report, emphasising the continuing importance of coal mining to the state's economy and regional communities, and the need for clear, consistent emissions policy. MEU General Secretary Grahame Kelly said coal mining remains a foundation of regional prosperity in NSW, supporting jobs, local small businesses and billions in annual state revenue. “Coal mining delivers more than $3 billion a year in royalties for NSW and supports thousands of secure, well-paid regional jobs,” Mr Kelly said. “It also accounts forjust12 per cent of the state’s…

Not meaningful reform: workers lose under compensation cuts

Psychologically injured workers who are close to catatonic will have their support payments cut under new laws agreed to between the Government and the Liberals and Nationals. Despite repeated evidence that a WPI of more than 21% means a worker has no capacity to work, the Parliament looks set to raise the threshold for income support to 25%, before ratcheting up to 28 per cent by 2029. “The parliament has failed to deliver meaningful reform. Instead, it has taken a sledgehammer to the entitlements of traumatised and vulnerable workers,” said Thomas Costa, acting Secretary of Unions NSW. Under the changes,…
