Salvos to release a second Social Justice Stocktake revealing the concerns of Australians by nation, state/territories, and individual electorates.

On World Social Justice Day, February 20, website to go live for community and policy makers to see what needs to be changed now – and how.

With a federal election looming once again, The Salvation Army has delved into the very heart of individual Australian communities to discover which social justice issues are of prominent concern right now and what can ultimately be done to address them.

On February 20, World Social Justice Day, The Salvation Army’s National Social Justice Stocktake Reports (NSJSR) will be released online in a purpose built website, www.salvationarmy.org.au/socialjusticestocktake allowing everyday Australians, policy makers and politicians on a local, state and federal level to ascertain issues impacting individuals and their communities - and how these issues will affect voting in the federal election.

Please note media will be able to see the reports from 2pm the day prior – February 19 - under embargo until the following day, February 20.

More than 16,000 people from all demographics across every state and territory contributed to the NSJSR via a survey, with this information compiled into 160 individual reports consisting of each federal electorate, state and territory and one big report for all of Australia.

Packed with practical information and actions which can be taken right now by individuals, workplaces and community groups or by engaging with political leaders to address issues of concern which include:

  • Alcohol and drug misuse
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander disadvantage

Small steps taken but more must be done to protect children from domestic and family violence

Small steps taken but more must be done to protect children from domestic and family violence Barnardos Australia strongly welcomes the NSW Government’s landmark strategy to acknowledge children as victim-survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV) in their own right, but more must be done to protect them.
