For anyone planning a trip to the Gold Coast, it’s time to add another world-class experience to the itinerary. Renowned for its stunning beaches and thrilling attractions, the Gold Coast now offers something truly unique: Astra Lumina at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This is no ordinary walk in the park—it’s an otherworldly journey where Australia’s iconic bushland meets starlit brilliance in a symphony of light, sound, and magic

Launching on March 5, 2025, Astra Lumina Gold Coast will transform the natural beauty of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary into a cosmic wonderland for immersive night walks. Created by Moment Factory, the internationally acclaimed multimedia studio behind spectacular productions for Billie Eilish, Madonna, and Disney, this immersive experience marks the first and only Astra Lumina installation in the Southern Hemisphere.

Designed to spark imagination and wonder for all ages, Astra Lumina has already dazzled audiences in cities like Los Angeles, Seattle, and Philadelphia. The Gold Coast installation will use immersive projections, lighting, and soundscapes to create a celestial journey among Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s 27 hectares of bushland, connecting visitors with the stars and the natural world around them.

Travis Couch, General Manager of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, shared that the team behind the experience is thrilled to bring the magic of Astra Lumina to Australia for the very first time.

“Astra Lumina Gold Coast offers visitors the chance to connect with nature and the stars in a deeply immersive and unforgettable way. Combining nature, storytelling, and a stunning array of lights and effects, Astra Lumina brings a whole new dimension to what the Gold Coast has to offer,” said Travis Couch.

“Astra Lumina is a must-see for anyone visiting Queensland and we’re proud to be offering this world-class experience right here on the Gold Coast,” added Travis Couch.

Moment Factory’s renowned expertise in crafting awe-inspiring environments ensures that Astra Lumina is not just an attraction but a world-class experience. Travelers will be able to immerse themselves in an evening of celestial wonder, making it the perfect addition to any Gold Coast itinerary.

"At Moment Factory, our mission is to inspire collective wonder and foster meaningful connections through new forms of entertainment. With over twelve years of experience creating immersive Night Walks and having successfully delivered more than 25 around the world, we are proud to bring Astra Lumina to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This enchanted pathway reimagines the sanctuary’s nighttime beauty, offering families unforgettable moments among the stars," shared Jérôme De Baecque, Moment Factory’s APAC Development Director.

Queensland Environment and Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said the new permanent installation will be an exciting ecotourism attraction for the Gold Coast region.

“This outdoor night activation is an awesome example of what ecotourism can offer us, with visitors encouraged to immerse themselves in the beautiful natural environment at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, to reconnect with nature while engaging their senses,” Minister Powell said.

“This exciting new attraction will operate year-round, with an opportunity to draw both local visitors and international tourists to come and take this amazing luminous journey.”

“The Queensland Government funded $1 million towards this project and will continue to support ecotourism opportunities like this throughout Queensland which are a major focus of our new 20-year tourism plan,” Minister Powell said.

Proceeds from Astra Lumina Gold Coast directly support Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s vital conservation programs and the operation of Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, fostering a deeper connection with nature to inspire wildlife protection for future generations.
