Why Joshua Fidrmuc Launched a Startup for Pets

Dial A Vet 2 mins read
BRISBANE, Australia--BUSINESS WIRE--

In August 2022, we at Dial A Vet embarked on a mission to revolutionize pet care, driven by our founder, Joshua Fidrmuc, a 29-year-old Australian entrepreneur. Our platform, accessible at dialavet.com, connects pet owners with licensed Australian veterinarians and veterinary nurses in minutes for just $49 per call. Since launching, we’ve welcomed over 40,000 pet owners and resolved 90% of their concerns, with most finding appointments in an average of 7-8 minutes. But what inspired Joshua to create Dial A Vet?

At its core, Dial A Vet was born from a simple observation: pet owners needed faster, more accessible vet care. Joshua, a natural problem-solver, noticed friends and family struggling to get timely advice for their pets. “Vet clinics can be booked out or hard to reach, especially in rural areas,” he recalls. “We wanted to offer a solution that fits modern life—immediate, expert care without the stress of a trip to the clinic.” Traditional vet visits remain vital for hands-on treatment, but we saw an opportunity to complement them with a service tailored to urgent questions and everyday concerns.

The spark for Dial A Vet came during the pandemic, when telemedicine for humans soared. Joshua asked a pivotal question: Why not bring this convenience to pet care? “Pets are family,” he says. “If we can consult a doctor online, why not a vet?” With over 60% of Australian households owning pets and many living far from urban centres, the need was clear. We launched Dial A Vet to bridge that gap, ensuring every pet owner—whether in Sydney or the Outback—could access professional advice quickly and affordably.

Building Dial A Vet wasn’t without hurdles. We worked tirelessly to recruit a team of dedicated vets and nurses eager to embrace a digital-first approach. Ensuring our platform was user-friendly and secure was another priority—pet owners trust us with their beloved companions, and we take that seriously. Today, our service delivers peace of mind, whether it’s dealing with a limp or advising on a finicky eater.

For us at Dial A Vet, this is more than a business—it’s a commitment to pets and their owners. With 40,000+ pet owners relying on us and a 90% resolution rate, we’re proving that quality care doesn’t have to wait. As we grow, our goal remains unchanged: to be there for every wag, purr, and worried pet parent, one call at a time.
