North Sydney Council has launched an exciting new Artist in Residence Pilot Program in partnership with North Sydney Community Centre (NSCC), providing a unique opportunity for artists to develop their practice while inspiring young people through creative workshops.
Mayor Zoë Baker encouraged artists to apply by 31 March, highlighting the importance of creative opportunities in the community.
“Our community has told us they want more opportunities for local artists, and this program delivers on that. By providing free creative space and engaging young people in the arts, we are investing in both our artists and the next generation of creative thinkers.”
Running during Term 2 (28 April to 4 July), the selected artist will receive free access to a purpose-built studio at NSCC. In return, they will deliver creative workshops for children attending the NSCC After School Care Program.

We look forward to welcoming an artist who will inspire and engage our After School Care children through the arts while also drawing inspiration from the vibrant community that makes our Centre such a special place."
Expressions of Interest are now open for artists working across a range of disciplines, including visual arts, performance, experimental media, and new technologies. The selected artist will be compensated at NAVA rates for the teaching component of the residency.
