Council grants open now: Secure funding for your project

North Sydney Council 2 mins read

Local not-for-profits, creatives and schools can apply for funding for projects to be delivered in 2025-26 through North Sydney Council’s grants program, open now.

Applications close Sunday 30 March for Small Grants and Green Schools Grants, and Monday 14 April for Creative Grants.

Mayor Zoë Baker says: “Over the past year, we’ve listened to our community share their vision for North Sydney.

“This year’s grants program is about turning that vision into reality—whether it’s creating accessible arts and culture experiences, making our environment more resilient, or supporting initiatives that bring people together and foster a sense of belonging. If you have a project that can make a difference, I encourage you to apply and be part of bringing our community’s vision to life.”

There are three opportunities available:

Small Grants
Purpose: Projects or initiatives benefiting the North Sydney community
Funding: Up to $2,000
Who can apply: Not-for-profit organisations based in or servicing the North Sydney local government area, or community groups in North Sydney auspiced by a not-for-profit organisation
Closing date: Sunday 30 March

Creative Grants
Purpose: New creative work, opportunities for communities and audiences to participate in arts and cultural activities, professional development, or activities that strengthen the capacity and sustainability of North Sydney’s creative industries
Funding: Up to $2,500 for professional development activities or up to $5,000 for projects benefiting the North Sydney community
Who can apply: Individual art practitioners, arts groups, collectives or organisations
Closing date: Monday 14 April

Green Schools Grants
Purpose: School environmental initiatives, such as activities focusing on plastic waste, energy, water, climate change and biodiversity
Funding: Up to $3,000
Who can apply: North Sydney-based preschools, childcare centres, primary and high schools
Closing date: Sunday 30 March

Past grant recipients include:

  • Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney for community mental health workshops (Small Grants)
  • the Music Box Project for their immersive Sound Picnic performances at the Coal Loader (Creative Grants)
  • St Mary's Primary School for a water catchment project to help fix problem pollution (Green Schools Grants)

Naomi Johnson from the Music Box Project says: “Creative grants are important for both artists and the community. They offer the opportunity for us to expand our creative practice through experimentation, play and discovery, and then to invite audiences into that musical space. Through being able to offer Sound Picnic at the Coal Loader as a free experience, we were able to engage with audiences that hadn't experienced our music before.”
