The Women’s Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community ACT will be hosting a unique interfaith iftar gathering, bringing together women from diverse backgrounds to share in the spiritual experience of fasting. This special occasion celebrates International Women’s Day with a focus on gender equity, unity, and interfaith harmony, while also marking the blessed month of Ramadan—a time of reflection, compassion, and devotion.

The event provides an opportunity for women of all faiths to come together, break bread, and share what fasting means to them in their respective traditions.

“Women have a vital role in shaping societies, and it is important that we come together to celebrate and empower one another. This interfaith iftar serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience of women across all faiths, united by shared values of sacrifice, reflection, and gratitude—values that are deeply rooted in the practice of fasting,” said Rabia Sharif, Outreach Coordinator of the Women’s Auxiliary, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community ACT.

The event will feature distinguished women representing Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, the Baha’i Faith, and Sikhism. We are also honoured to welcome Caitlin Tough MLA, Member for Brindabella, who will be sharing her remarks on this significant occasion.

The Women’s Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community ACT event invites political leaders, religious figures, and members of the public to join this interfaith iftar gathering, promoting peace, solidarity, and respect for all.

Please note this is a free, women’s only event. Registration is available through Humanitix.

About us:

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community ACT is currently building a new mosque in Narrabundah, with the foundation stone laid in 2021. The community’s local prayer centre in Fyshwick serves as the hub for the ACT, Australia chapter of the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, which was established in 1889 by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who claimed to be the Messiah of the age. With millions of members across over 200 countries, the community is currently led by His Holiness, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, and is known for its advocacy for peace, harmony, universal human rights, and the protection of religious and minority groups.

The Women’s Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community ACT empowers women through education, interfaith dialogue, and community engagement. The auxiliary hosts peace symposiums, interfaith programs, and various initiatives that foster mutual respect, gender equity, and spiritual growth. Through these efforts, it seeks to advance the roles of women in both the community and society at large, helping them develop religious, academic, and leadership skills. The Women’s Auxiliary is committed to championing the empowerment and education of women, ensuring their voices are heard in all aspects of life.
