
Nurses and Midwives Demand Major Reform in 2025 Federal Election Campaign

Leaders of the nine largest nursing and midwifery organisations in Australia will gather at Parliament House in Canberra today, Friday 14 March to launch their bold health reform agenda for the Federal Election.
The Nursing and Midwifery Peaks agenda highlights seven practical and achievable actions that political leaders could take now to have an immediate impact on the nation’s healthcare system to improve access to health services for all Australians.
Australia’s 650,000 current and recently retired nurses, nurse practitioners, and midwives – all voters – are demanding change to enable nurses and midwives to work to their full capacity to provide solutions for a system stretched to its breaking point.
The need for healthcare reform is urgent: Australians are facing longer waiting times and higher out-of-pocket costs, and the healthcare workforce is operating under immense pressure. Nurses are the solution.
