  • MEU representatives will gather at the Shamrock Hotel Pavilion meeting room (165 Nebo Rd Mackay) for an annual leadership meeting with MEU members 

 

The MEU is launching election campaign ads this week to run in mining communities, featuring real stories from Queensland mineworkers.

 

The new campaign will call on voters to back in Same Job Same Pay at the ballot box in the upcoming federal election.

 

MEU representatives gathering in Mackay this week will reaffirm their support for the reform that has delivered about $15 million in annual pay rises for Queensland coal miners so far – with $80 million more in the pipeline.

New polling shows Liberal candidate for Brisbane, Trevor Evans, is set to lose the federal seat of Brisbane at the upcoming election, with the Coalition's nuclear energy policy identified as a key factor driving voters away.
