The Brisbane Disability Connection Expo, sponsored by GNA Services is Queensland's largest disability and NDIS related event every year. With over 10 000 people attending one of our events last year we aim to see record numbers and the disability community coming together in a time of upheaval, uncertainty and following a  Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation that has largely sat without action. Repurposed diabetes drug can reduce pain for those with knee arthritis and overweight or obesity: study

A common diabetes drug can reduce the pain of people with knee osteoarthritis and overweight or obesity, possibly delaying the need for knee replacements, Monash University-led research has found. Metformin, which is commonly prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes, reduced knee arthritis pain over six months in a clinical trial published in JAMA. The randomised clinical trial looked at whether metformin, compared to a placebo, reduced knee pain in patients withsymptomatic knee osteoarthritis (knee OA) andoverweight or obesity.
