Music stars calling for fans to make a small change for big impact

Sunny Comms on behalf of Destiny Rescue 3 mins read

Renowned for her deeply emotive lyrics and captivating melodies, US-based artist SVRCINA is stepping beyond the studio to make an impact in the real world. The singer-songwriter is joining Destiny Rescue’s Give Up a Meal campaign, encouraging people to take a small but powerful action to help rescue children from sexual exploitation.

SVRCINA is part of a collective of influential voices championing the initiative, including acclaimed singer-songwriter Dami Im, finance expert Victoria Devine and bestselling author Melissa Ambrosini alongside her husband Nick Broadhurst. Her involvement brings an international perspective to the campaign, using her platform to inspire change on a global scale.

For SVRCINA, the cause aligns deeply with the themes of hope, freedom, and transformation that define her music.

“As an artist, I’ve always believed in the power of creativity to transform and inspire. But some transformations begin with something as simple as a single choice," SVRCINA said.

“That’s why I’m getting behind Destiny Rescue’s Give Up a Meal campaign, to help rescue children trapped in exploitation and give them a chance to dream again. No child should live in fear or face unimaginable circumstances just to survive, but together, we can rewrite their story."

For Dami Im, who has been a proud ambassador for Destiny Rescue since March 2023, the cause is very personal.

“This cause is so close to my heart. As a parent, I can’t imagine my child living in fear of exploitation. By donating the cost of just one meal, we can help rescue children and give them the safety, love, and hope they deserve,” Dami said.

The Give Up a Meal campaign encourages Australians to donate the cost of a single meal to fund rescue missions and post-rescue care for vulnerable children.

“Destiny Rescue’s work goes far beyond the initial rescue. They don’t just remove children from danger; they provide the tools and support these kids need to build brighter futures,” added Dami.

“Families of rescued children are often given resources to start small businesses, ensuring long-term stability and independence. It’s life-changing work, and I’m proud to be part of it.”

With a broad spectrum of voices supporting the campaign, Destiny Rescue CEO Paul Mergard sees the collective effort as a pivotal moment to drive change.

“Give Up a Meal is a simple but powerful way to make a difference. Every donation directly supports rescue missions and provides essential post-rescue care, from safe housing to education and vocational training. These contributions don’t just save lives — they transform them,” Paul said.

Destiny Rescue, founded on the Sunshine Coast in 2001, operates in 12 countries globally and has rescued thousands of children from exploitation. In 2024 alone, the organisation rescued 4,177 individuals, including 1,876 children.

Each of the campaign’s advocates is leveraging their platform to create personal fundraising pages and share the message. Australians are encouraged to donate through these pages and amplify the campaign’s reach.

53 International NGOs warn Israel’s recent registration measures will impede critical humanitarian action

International humanitarian organisations operating in the occupied Palestinian territory warn that Israel’s recent registration measures threaten to halt INGO operations at a time when civilians face acute and widespread humanitarian need, despite the ceasefire in Gaza. On 30 December, 37INGOs received official notification that their registrations would expire on 31 December 2025. This triggers a 60-day period after which INGOs would be required to cease operations in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. INGOs are integral to the humanitarian response, working in partnership with the United Nations and Palestinian civil society organisations to deliver lifesaving assistance at scale. The…
