STEPS Garden Centre is getting ready to host its upcoming free Harvest Day event on Saturday 22 March, bringing the Sunshine Coast community together to celebrate autumn, share the joys of gardening and nature, and support STEPS’ mission of creating brighter futures for young adults living with a disability.
From 9am to 3pm, STEPS Garden Centre, located on Ulm Street South in Caloundra, will be home to deals on plants and gardening supplies, activities for kids, bonsai workshops, free gardening information sessions, and much more to keep the whole family entertained.
Customers will enjoy up to 20% off gardening products and plants, including specialty soil mixes, a range of fruit trees and native plants, flowers, cacti and much more. STEPS Garden Centre’s large range of pots will also be 20% off, helping customers find the perfect homes for their plants.
April Heard, STEPS Garden Centre Manager, says that Harvest Day is an exciting opportunity for locals to explore the world of gardening and have fun with their loved ones while they support an important cause.
“Our previous Harvest Day was the biggest day for STEPS Garden Centre ever, and the entire team was so incredibly proud to share our passion for gardening and the ‘why’ behind our non-profit business, which is STEPS Pathways College,” Mrs Heard said.
“This year, we’re bringing back the activities that everyone loved from our last event, such as the Golden Gnome scavenger hunt and a workshop – this time we’re teaching participants how to create their own bonsai trees. We’re also introducing a few new and exciting things, including our Thrift Market stall, which I’m personally looking forward to shopping at myself.”
The on-site Café on George will be open for Harvest Day from 8:30am to 1:30pm, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the Café’s delicious coffee, irresistible desserts and mouth-watering hot meals.
The Thrift Market is a new edition to the Harvest Day lineup, selling second-hand trinkets, clothes, toys, tools and more. All proceeds are donated to STEPS Pathways College.
Mrs Heard believes that STEPS Garden Centre and Café on George are both hidden gems on the Sunshine Coast and she is excited for more members of the community discover everything they have to offer.
“Not only do we offer high-quality, amazing products and customer service, but we also support such an important cause,” Mrs Heard said.
When people visit us for the first time, they’re always fascinated by STEPS Pathways College and want to learn more about it. You’ll see some of our students at the event, volunteering their time to help us make Harvest Day a fun day for the community.”
All profits made at STEPS Garden Centre and Café on George go directly to STEPS Pathways College, a unique program for young people living with a disability. The first and only curriculum of its kind in Australia, STEPS Pathways College teaches its students how to live independently, become active in their community, and build their confidence to reach their goals.
STEPS encourages people to visit its Harvest Day webpage for more information and to RSVP to the event.
