Chocolate lovers can now rest easy with the return of the Vision Australia Good Friday Easter Egg hunt at the Bendigo Easter Festival on Friday April 18.

Tickets are now available to purchase via www.bendigoregion.com.au/explore-bendigo/vision-australia-easter-egg-hunt-tickets for $18.

Vision Australia Regional Client Lead for Victoria Megan Boldt said the event will have over 80,000 chocolate eggs up for grabs at 23 different hunts.

“We are so excited to be hosting this event once again. Our hunts cater to people of all ages and abilities, so that everyone can partake in the fun,” said Megan.

“Last year we had more than 70 people participate in our blindfolded adult hunt, which was designed to simulate how someone who is blind may experience the hunt. This year we’re encouraging even more people to participate in this accessible initiative.”

Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs will also be present, setting up a stand where people can come past and pat a puppy-in-training, while learning about volunteer options.

“All ticket proceeds for the hunt will go back to Vision Australia and its ongoing support for the blind and low vision community in the greater Bendigo region,” said Megan.

“Last year our staff provided more than 69,000 hours of support to clients through specialist services such as occupational therapy, orientation and mobility support, paediatric services, assistive technology and more.

“The funds from each ticket sold will go a long way in ensuring we can continue to deliver life changing support to people who are blind or have low vision.”

Cholera and Mpox cases increasing dangerously in DRC as aid cuts push health systems to near-collapse

Preventable diseases are sweeping the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Cholera cases increased by 326, Mpox by 269, and measles by 95 people in North Kivu alone, during the last week of February, according to Oxfam’s partners on the ground. In January, new cases of cholera infections in the country more than doubled to over 3,850, and 67 people died, which is three times more deaths than the previous month, Oxfam calculates based on WHO data. Ongoing violence and USAID funding suspension is accelerating the collapse of DRC’s fragile health system, leaving millions defenseless against preventable diseases like cholera. Since…

‘Nostalgia’ ready to bloom – new show garden gives back to dementia

Award winning landscape designer Paul Pritchard will present his next show garden ‘Nostalgia’ created in support of Dementia Australia and in honour of his father who lived with Alzheimer's disease, at the upcoming Melbourne International Flower and Garden show. Following an extensive planning process, Mr Pritchard has designed a vibrant space with a nostalgic feel which aims to bring attention to dementia and its impact on the community. “I explored several concepts, but the final design took shape after the passing of my father to Alzheimer’s disease in May last year, making this garden especially meaningful to my family and…
