Budget pressures set to drive demand for recycled car parts.

Wreckonnect 2 mins read

As cost-of-living pressures mount, more Australians are turning to recycled car parts to keep their vehicles on the road without breaking the bank.

With repair costs rising, the auto wrecking industry is seeing increased demand for quality second-hand components that offer significant savings for everyday aussies.

"Many Australians don’t realise that recycled car parts can cost less than half the price of new ones while still providing a reliable alternative for repairs,” said Chris Mallon, spokesperson for Wreckonnect, an online platform built to connect wreckers and repairers.

"At a time when household budgets are stretched, making these parts easier to access can help motorists save money and extend the life of their current vehicle."

Wreckers recycle tens of thousands of car parts every year, harvested from written-off vehicles in Australia. Parts like engines, transmissions, suspension components, body panels, and hard-to-find interior accessories are rigorously inspected before resale ensuring great quality for the consumer. Most will even offer a warranty on their parts.

Industry experts say this shift towards second-hand components is not just an economic decision but also a more sustainable approach to vehicle maintenance for Australians.

With growing interest in cost-effective repair solutions, digital platforms like Wreckonnect are changing how Australians now access auto parts and making it easier for mechanics and car repairers to source what they need without the traditional hurdles.

Key Facts:

·      Recycled parts cost on average, less than 50% of the price of new components.

·       With 68 manufacturers and over 350 models available in the Australian market, the ability to source a specific recycled part is challenging.

·         Current economic uncertainty and rising MV price index means consumers are looking to extend vehicle life and opt for used parts.

About us:

At WrecKonnect, we are bridging the gap between automotive wreckers and mechanics by providing an innovative web-based platform that allows mechanics to easily search for used car parts from hundreds of wreckers across Australia.
