Club 4X4 Insurance hits the sand for K’gari Clean Up during National Volunteer Week

Club 4x4 Insurance 2 mins read

Built by off-roaders, for off-roaders – Club 4X4 Insurance is getting its hands dirty to protect the places that fuel Australia’s 4WD culture.

The best parts of Australia are off the main road. From the 23rd to 25th May, 2025, Club 4X4 Insurance will be heading off the beaten track and hitting the sand at K’gari (formerly Fraser Island), joining over 500 volunteers to help remove more than 6,500 kilograms of rubbish from the World Heritage-listed destination as part of the annual K’gari Clean Up.

In 2024, 80% of the rubbish collected on the island had washed ashore, while the remaining 20% was left behind by visitors. This year’s expected haul is over 6 tonnes, the equivalent of an adult humpback whale. The participants will work together to help preserve the pristine beaches and biodiversity of K’gari – a place known to the Traditional Owners, the Butchulla people, as ‘paradise’.

Organised by Four Wheel Drive Association QLD and now in its 24th year, the K’gari Clean Up is one of the Australia’s largest community-led environmental efforts, taking place during National Volunteer Week. Funded through the support of sponsors like Club 4X4 Insurance, the three-day event brings together more than 20 4WD clubs from across Queensland.

“At Club 4X4, our purpose goes beyond insuring vehicles – it’s about safeguarding and future-proofing a way of life. Supporting the K’gari Clean Up is one of the most meaningful ways we can give back to the community that built and drives us, while helping to preserve the landscape that makes Aussie 4WDing unlike anywhere else in the world,” said Tony Mitchell, CEO of Club 4X4 Insurance.

Established in 2015, Club 4X4 Insurance was founded by passionate off-roaders, for off-roaders, built to offer comprehensive insurance solutions for 4WDs, caravans and camper trailers. Born from tracks and trails, the brand is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with a community that values both exploration and preservation.

With an eye on the next generation, Club 4X4 is committed to keeping Australia’s most iconic destinations accessible, respected and ready to be explored. Club 4X4 is designed to suit the Australian way of life.
