Help shape the future of the arts in Willoughby – Expressions of Interest open for the Civic Place Trust Board

Willoughby City Council < 1 mins read

Willoughby City Council is calling for expressions of interest from passionate and skilled community members to join the Civic Place Trust.

Established by Council in 2004, the Civic Place Trust plays a pivotal role in promoting the arts and supporting cultural facilities across the City of Willoughby.

The Trust was instrumental in fundraising for the construction of The Concourse, Chatswood’s iconic performing arts and cultural hub. Today, it continues to contribute to our city’s vibrant cultural life, most recently supporting the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and diverse performances at The Concourse.

Now entering a new phase, the Trust is aiming to boost its fundraising efforts through a strategic donations plan. To help achieve this, Willoughby City Council is looking to appoint two new trustees with the right mix of skills, experience and energy.

Expressions of interest are being sought for:

  • One trustee with expertise in the arts, fundraising and/or philanthropy
  • One trustee with legal, governance and/or financial experience

Trustees must be respected members of the community and willing to commit to around four to six meetings a year.

Expressions of Interest close at 5pm, Friday 10 May 2024.

Acknowledging retiring chairman Robert Morgan

Creative Australia acknowledges and thanks retiring chair of the Board, Robert Morgan. Robert started his chairmanship for the Australia Council for the Arts in July 2021 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, a highly distressing time for artists and arts organisations. In steering through this, Robert has since seen the organisation through its biggest transition in 50 years, when in 2023, it became Creative Australia, the centrepiece of the Australian Government’s National Cultural Policy: Revive, a place for every story, a story for every place. Robert’s commitment and leadership has supported Creative Australia in becoming a bigger, bolder champion…
