Mining Companies Push Back Against Third-Party Delays, Turning to Internal Training

Plenty Training < 1 mins read

Gold Coast, Australia – Mining companies are moving towards internal training solutions to overcome workforce shortages, compliance pressures, and rising operational costs.

Plenty Training, a leading provider of training and assessment qualifications, has seen a surge in mining operators shifting away from outsourcing training and Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments in favour of upskilling their own teams.

“The mining sector is growing increasingly frustrated with the reliance on third parties for VOC assessments and training. Companies need internal trainers who can perform these assessments in-house, ensuring compliance without unnecessary delays,” said Levi Luke, representative at Plenty Training.

“With VOCs needing to be conducted regularly across both small and large teams, having a qualified assessor on-site means assessments can be completed as needed. This flexibility reduces scheduling bottlenecks, cuts outsourcing costs, and ensures operations continue without disruption.”

Plenty Training’s TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment equips experienced miners to train and assess their peers, enabling companies to conduct VOCs in-house, reduce costs, and maintain compliance without third-party delays. Investing in internal trainers ensures workforce stability, knowledge retention, and greater operational efficiency.

“Skills shortages won’t fix themselves," said Mr Luke.

"We help mining operators upskill internal trainers efficiently, working around their operational constraints to ensure seamless integration.”

Plenty Training provides structured training solutions tailored to the mining sector, helping companies future-proof their workforce, maintain compliance, and strengthen workplace safety.
