TONGREN, China, April 11, 2025 / Xinhua-AsiaNet /--

Mount Fanjingshan, located in Tongren City, southwest China's Guizhou Province, covers an area of 775 square kilometers and serves as an important window for the geological evolution in south China and a crucial ecological barrier for the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

In 2024, Mount Fanjingshan was listed into the first batch of the top mountain travel destinations by the International Mountain Tourism Alliance, and included in the Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

As a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a national 5A-level scenic area, Mount Fanjingshan has well-preserved ecological resources, rich biodiversity and magnificent natural landscapes. Many iconic scenic spots, including the Ten-thousand-meter Sleeping Buddha and Mushroom-shaped Stone, have attracted a large number of tourists to visit and take photos.

This mountain has a typical and complete primitive forest ecosystem in the mid-subtropical areas. It is one of the most important protection areas for beeches in Asia and one of the areas with the richest gymnosperm species in the world.

The ecosystem of Fanjingshan has preserved large numbers of ancient relict plants, rare and endangered creatures, as well as unique species. It is home to more than 7,900 species of wild animals and plants. It is the only habitat of the rare Guizhou snub-nosed monkey and the Fanjingshan fir.

At present, Guizhou has implemented a 240-hour free-visa policy, allowing travelers  to stay for 10 days. As the dove trees and azalea are in bloom on Mount Fanjingshan, it is exactly a good time for sightseeing and relaxation.
