Talent Available

Thea Ormeond, President of the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change

Location: Sydney

“Pope Francis didn’t do ‘thoughts and prayers’, he made real, practical interventions on addressing climate change, for example by advocating for agreements at COP (United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change).”

Thea Ormerod is a practising Catholic ARRCC. She has been actively involved in the justice and ecology sectors for more than 30 years, and has extensive experience in social justice as a social worker and a long-term anti-poverty campaigner. This led to an interest in global warming when she saw its impact on some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Her views of climate change as a moral and religious issue is what drives her to fight for a fair and sustainable international society.

Emma Beach, Executive Officer of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission of Brisbane

Location: Brisbane

Emma Beach has worked in counselling, chaplaincy and parish youth work. She is now the Executive Officer of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission of Brisbane, a commission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane working for social justice, peace and protection of the environment in accordance with the values of the Gospel.

Talent Alert: Experts and case study available for interview on CSIRO GenCost Draft 2025-26 Report

Wednesday 17 December For immediate release. CSIRO’s Draft 2025-26 GenCost Report, released today, has once again found that renewables (solar and onshore wind) are set to form the lowest cost electricity generation mix for Australia through to 2050. The new CSIRO and AEMO modelling confirms electricity generation costs would be a third lower with an 82% renewable grid, while building a new coal-fired power station today would deliver electricity for at least double the cost of solar and wind. Today’s report underscores that the pace of the shift to clean energy must increase, to secure a stable electricity grid and…
