Australia’s Largest Team Endurance Event Returns To Brisbane: Kokoda Challenge 2025

Kokoda Youth Foundation 2 mins read

The Kokoda Challenge, Australia’s largest team endurance event, is set to return to Brisbane on June 7th, 2025, pushing participants to their limits in an epic test of endurance and mateship.

The reward? Unmatched camaraderie, life-changing personal growth the power to transform the future of young Australians. Adventure awaits just 30 minutes from Brisbane CBD, where teams of 2-5 will set off from the scenic Brookfield Recreation Reserve, to tackle the 18, 30 or 48km course, through rain, hail or shine.

After last year’s sell out event with over 2,700 participants, this year marks its monumental 20th Anniversary and is set out to be bigger, bolder and more unforgettable than ever, driven by those ready to rise to the challenge.

More than just a race, the Kokoda Challenge raises vital funds the Kokoda Youth Foundation, whose experiential youth programs have helped transform hundreds of young lives since 2004. While the event also honours the legacy of Australian soldiers from the 1942 Kokoda Campaign.

Kokoda Youth Foundation Founder and Vietnam Veteran, Dough Henderson explains the foundations mission: Kokoda Youth Programs are about providing disadvantaged and disengaged youth with the appropriate tools to realise their full potential, while instilling the values of the Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice – embodying the true spirit of the Kokoda Campaign.

"The most challenging and rewarding experience that I have ever undertaken. It gave me a strength I didn’t know I had, and I finished it with teammates who became my trusted and cherished friends for life." Says Stacey, a previous participant.

Participants of the event are rewarded with greater resilience and self-confidence, but most importantly, the satisfaction of knowing they have made a real difference in the lives of young Australians.

Plus, there’s never been a better time to fundraise! The team that raises the most across all Kokoda Challenge 2025 events will win an unforgettable, fully funded trek on the iconic Kokoda Track in PNG, courtesy of Kokoda Spirit. For more information, head to https://shorturl.at/ARVop

Still riding the adrenaline from Kokoda Youth Foundation’s BIGGEST Sunshine Coast event to date in May, the upcoming Brisbane event now takes the baton as leg two of the legendary 2025 Kokoda Challenge Series. The series is set to continue with the Gold Coast (19-20 July) event, before making its debut in Sydney (20-21 September) for the very first time.

We invite your media outlet to help shine a spotlight on an incredible cause and to support Kokoda Youth Foundation’s mission to transform the lives of Australian youth.
