AVO CONNECTIONS, the Australian avocado industry’s annual industry forum, is happening from 9.15am to 4.15pm on Wednesday 4 June 2024 at the Brisbane Convention Centre in South Brisbane (in the same week as Hort Connections) and tickets have sold out, for the second year in a row. Those still interested in attending can still register but will be added to the event’s waiting list. Australian avocado growers, packers, exporters and other key stakeholders involved in the avocado supply chain will be attending. This event is in its fifth year and this year’s program is the best yet!
Avo Connections’ program this year is comprised of excellent presentations from thought leaders across the globe, trade experts, and marketing masterminds. They will explore the latest trends and opportunities for Australian avocados. Presentations will include an overview of the status the Australian avocado industry, the latest developments related to the domestic market, export markets, food service and marketing of Australian avocados.
Event Highlights
The event promises a stellar line-up of speakers such as Steven Marks, co-CEO and co-founder of Guzman y Gomez, Professor David Hughes (a.k.a Dr Food), Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London, and Adam Ferrier, one of Australia’s best-known and successful consumer psychologists and founder of Thinkerbell. All will share unique insights in their presentations and the presentations should not be missed! The event will also provide an opportunity to hear the latest State of the Avocado Industry details amidst market development and access activities.
Avo Connections also provides a great opportunity to network and promotes collaboration and innovation across the Australian avocado supply chain.
In all, representatives from Avocados Australia, Hort Innovation, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Fresh Intelligence Consulting, Freshlogic, Guzman Y Gomez, Thinkerbell, Noon (an online retail platform based in Saudi Arabia), and the Shanghai Markets will be speaking at the forum.

About The National Horticulture Roadshow
This year Avocados Australia is excited to be presenting the forum as part of the National Horticulture Roadshow. The National Horticulture Roadshow is being delivered by National Farmers’ Federation Horticulture Council, with funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) through the Showcasing grant, to support the Regional Trade Events program. The Roadshow is an initiative to bring together industry experts, growers, and the community to share knowledge, showcase new technologies, celebrate the horticulture sector’s achievements and foster growth in the industry.
Quote from Avocados Australia’s Media spokesperson
Avocados Australia’s CEO, John Tyas, believes it will be a special forum as it is part of the National Horticulture Roadshow, and because the program offers an excellent line-up of speakers.
“We are thrilled to be part of The National Horticulture Roadshow this year and to host Avo Connections.”
“Increasing demand and developing new markets for Australian avocados are the highest priorities for our industry at the moment. Learning about the latest innovations and insights is important for the industry so it can remain competitive,” he said.
