CDC NSW Unveils New $650,000 Driver Facilities at Terrey Hills Depot

CDC NSW 2 mins read

23 May 2025: CDC NSW has officially opened new driver and staff facilities at its Terrey Hills Depot, marking a significant investment in employee wellbeing and operational excellence. The $650,000 amenities reflect the company's ongoing commitment to creating superior working environments for the team members who keep Sydney moving every day.

The new facility features a modern, bright, and functional design that prioritises staff comfort and collaboration. A key highlight of the upgrade is the unification of administrative staff and drivers under one roof—previously housed in separate areas—fostering improved communication and team cohesion across all operational roles.

CDC NSW Chief Executive Officer, David Mead, emphasised the importance of this upgrade. "Our people are the heart of our operation, and these new facilities at Terrey Hills reflect our dedication to their well-being. By bringing our administrative and driving teams together in one thoughtfully designed space, we're not just improving facilities—we're strengthening our collaborative culture and operational efficiency."

The facility upgrade originated from CDC NSW's proactive exploration of ways to improve staff well-being. The recommendations from an internal taskforce became the impetus to complete this new facility.

The renovated space includes dedicated recreational areas where team members can enjoy a game of billiards, puzzles, watch a movie and social interaction during breaks. These communal spaces have been designed to promote both relaxation and camaraderie among staff.

Local MP for Wakehurst, Mr Michael Regan, said "we're pleased to see CDC NSW's continued investment in driver facilities and staff well-being. The upgrades at Terrey Hills demonstrate the company’s commitment to creating better working conditions for transport workers, which ultimately benefits the travelling public. We have a driver shortage, and this is a positive way to invest in driver recruitment and retention. That in turn helps improving service reliability and capacity to us the customer.”

A standout feature of the new facilities is the purpose-built quiet room and shower amenities, specifically designed for drivers working broken shifts. These spaces provide essential opportunities for rest and rejuvenation between shifts.

"The addition of quiet rooms and shower facilities addresses a real need for our drivers working split shifts. These amenities allow them to properly rest and refresh between service periods, which is essential not only for their well-being but for the safety of our passengers and other road users," Mr Mead said.

The Terrey Hills upgrade also includes a new training room equipped with state-of-the-art teleconferencing capabilities. This investment in modern learning facilities will enhance CDC NSW's driver training programs and professional development initiatives, ensuring the company's team members continue to deliver the highest standards of service to the Northern Beaches community.

Construction of the new facilities started in early December 2024 with a total project cost of $650,000, representing part of a broader multimillion-dollar program of work to upgrade CDC NSW driver facilities across the network.

The improved Terrey Hills Depot facilities are now fully operational, serving the drivers and staff who deliver essential bus services throughout the Northern Sydney region.
