Fixing Family Travel: Aussie Parents Behind Globe Glider’s Open Equity Crowdfunding After $600K Early Investment Boost

Globe Glider Pty Ltd 2 mins read

The world’s first fully reclining stroller-case combo hits manufacturing phase – and everyday investors can now own a stake.

When new mum Josie Stockdill took a solo flight with her baby (plus a pram, case, and overflowing nappy bag), she and partner Ben Newman realised there had to be a better way.

Their solution? The Globe Glider – the world’s first stroller-case with a full recline function and leg rest for infants to 17kg, to be certified with AS/NZS safety standards and designed to fit neatly in overhead on your flight.

After securing $600K in early investment and validating demand from exhausted parents worldwide, the Castlemaine-based startup has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Birchal (closing 29 May) to accelerate production and global expansion.

Why This Matters for Parents:

  • Solves the "3-Piece Nightmare": Replaces stroller, carrier, and carry-on with one 6kg, airline-compliant unit (boasting 21L storage).

  • Safe for Newborns: Only product of its kind with full recline + leg rest (0-2+ years).

  • Cost Saver: At $499 AUD, it will not be prohibitive to new mums.

Why Investors Are Backing It:

  • Proven Demand: Baby goods is a massive industry, and more new parents and families are flying regularly to see family, for work and holidays.

  • Global Gap: The $14B baby convenience market lacks all-in-one travel solutions.

  • Scalability: Funds will secure factory MOQs for Australian release, and then Asian/European expansion.

"We’ve been contacted by parents in Australia, Asia, America, and Europe who are desperate for a Globe Glider now," says Josie. "This campaign lets Aussie families everywhere be part of our mission to get out in the real world – not just as customers, but as owners."

Investment Details:

  • Campaign: Live NOW on Birchal until 29 May 2025.

  • Minimum Investment: $250.

  • Use of Funds: Manufacturing, securing bulk material orders, and fast-track international distribution.

Enough Recalls: The Safety Testing Gap Putting Our Children at Risk

Key Facts: Australia has no blanket requirement for mandatory pre-market safety testing for many children’s products labelled “3+”, unless a specific hazard standard applies (such as button batteries or magnets). Mandatory safety standards primarily apply to toys for children up to and including 36 months, and to products with identified risks such as button batteries or magnets. In 2024–25, the ACCC published 248 product recalls, many involving consumer goods that posed potential hazards to children. Recent recalls have included asbestos-contaminated children’s sand products and popular retail toys recalled due to serious choking risks. Consumer safety advocates and industry experts are…
