Media alert: Editors’ information session on contributing to preventing violence against women

Our Watch 2 mins read

Newsroom leaders are encouraged to register for a new online information session from leading violence against women prevention organisation, Our Watch, designed to support them in preventing violence against women.

The lunchtime information session aims to help media leadership deliver stories about violence against women in a way that evidence shows works to prevent this violence.

The session at 1 pm on 11 June 2025 provides a concise overview of how national violence prevention organisation Our Watch can support them and their teams to:

  • Strengthen reporting on violence against women through small but powerful editorial shifts.
  • Access information on available training and resources that improve story quality and newsroom impact.
  • Learn how Our Watch can support media executives in creating safer, more gender-equitable workplaces.
  • Connect with Our Watch’s Media Relations team for expert commentary, interviews, and background information.

Our Watch works with the media to offer insights and support in elevating stories audiences care about. Our Watch aims to build on existing leadership, acknowledging the progress already achieved, and offering tools that can help strengthen their impact in this space.

Mali betrays correctional officers

Peter Malinauskas' decision late Friday to privatise the Adelaide Remand Centre (ARC) is a betrayal of hard-working corrections officers across the country, says the Community and Public Sector Union. While Labor Governments around the country have been busily bringing prisons back into the public sector, most recently the Minns Government with Junee and Parklea prisons last year, Malinauskas has decided to continue Liberal Government policy. The ARC was privatised by the Marshall Liberal Government in 2019. The contract for the ARC expires in August and the Malinauskas Government was expected to return the prison to the public sector. The ARC…

Mali’s decision to rehire Multinational company Serco a slap in the face to true believers

Today’s decision by theMalinauskas Government to rehire international prison company Serco to run the Adelaide Remand Centre (ARC) is a betrayal of every volunteer who handed out to re-elect them only a month ago, says the Public Service Association of South Australia. The Labor Party has always opposed the privatisation of precious public services, so the Malinauskas Government’s decision today to keep the ARC in private hands after it was privatised by the Marshall Liberal Government in 2019 flies in the face of everything the party stands for. The contract expires in August and the Malinauskas Government was expected to…
