Media statement: Commission of inquiry into Qld child safety system

Act for Kids < 1 mins read

Below can be attributed to Act for Kids:

Act for Kids welcomes a commission of inquiry to promote learning and explore ways to strengthen the child protection system.

As a society our goal must always be to protect children and their right to live safe, healthy lives.

Any review that can guide individuals, communities and government on improved ways to keep our kids safe should always be advocated for.

Sadly, many stories have emerged of children being harmed in Queensland’s out-of-home care system. This is unacceptable and requires urgent action to address.

Act for Kids strongly believes the call for a system review does not and should not tarnish the incredible work of the majority of child safety workers and providers, who work extremely hard every day to care for children and provide the safe environments they need to thrive.

Sharing social media logins. Kissing and touching. Sharing your location. Going on a date with someone new. Being told what to wear (or not to wear). What’s OK and not OK when it comes to setting boundaries in a relationship? Navigating relationships can be tricky, and new data released today shows more than a quarter of surveyed 14–20-year-olds are confusing controlling behaviours such as forcing physical touch out of love in a relationship as a ‘healthy boundary.’ The data also found only 22% of surveyed young people feel completely confident to take action when they are uncomfortable, feel unsafe or…
