On this weekend – Memory Walk & Jog Sydney!

Dementia Australia 2 mins read

The 2025 Sydney Memory Walk & Jog is upon us, with the much-anticipated event taking place this weekend on Sunday, 25 May at Cathy Freeman Park, Sydney Olympic Park.

Starting at 7:30am, we welcome everyone in the Sydney community to join fellow participants as they walk, jog or run for better brain health and to help raise money in support of people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Special guests, Charlie Brown and Jess Redmayne will be in attendance.

More than 1,340 people have already signed-up to take part – but there’s always room for more with online registrations still open, or sign-up on the day of the event.

Get active and beat dementia, sign-up to participate in Memory Walk & Jog or volunteer by visiting https://www.memorywalk.com.au/event/sydney/home.

Can’t attend Memory Walk & Jog but want to be involved? Organise your own group or individual walk or jog, with a MyWay event. Choose your own date and location and register at www.memorywalk.com.au/get-involved/mw.

New research makes critical discovery for the global fight against antibiotic resistance

A Monash University-led study has found that an unusual pairing of two commonly used antibiotics can kill and stop the spread of resistance in a highly drug-resistant bacterium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can cause life-threatening bloodstream infections, pneumonia and meningitis. Published in The Lancet Microbe, Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) researchers used a validated laboratory infection system in which they were able to expose bacterial samples from infected patients to simulated antibiotic dosing regimens, as would actually occur in hospitalised patients. The discovery of the combination regimen of two so-called β-lactam antibiotics – the most commonly used antibiotics class against…
