SCENIC RIM EAT LOCAL MONTH STARTS THIS WEEKEND

 

STARTING THIS WEEKEND - a month for anyone who believes the best meals come with a story—and maybe a little dirt under the nails. So pack your appetite and sense of adventure—this is as local as it gets.

 

Forks up folks, it’s feasting time! The famous Scenic Rim Eat Local Month starts this weekend with more flavour, fun, and fire (as well as carrots, cheese, wine, beer and pickles!) than ever before—serving up an epic month-long celebration of the region’s award-winning producers, makers, farmers, brewers, bakers, and food innovators!  This year, there’s more than 100 food events including 41 Long Lunches, Degustations and Dinners, 25 Workshops and Classes, almost 50 Family Friendly options, and a record 64 On Farm Adventures. THIS WEEKEND foodies can become brewers for a day with Boxer Brewing Co.’s head brewer, and celebrate the opening weekend in style at The Cauldron Distillery’s Spirit of the Mountain, where First Nations storytelling, local spirits, and a performance by Ben Lee set will be epic, just to name a few.

Brewmaster for a Day with the Head Brewer
Boxer Brewing Co. - Dive into the brewing process with the head brewer and craft your own beer.

Long Lunch by the Lake - Roastbeef and The Frog
Savor a five-course lunch featuring local produce, set against the serene backdrop of Wyaralong Dam.

La Dolce Vita Soiree at Sarabah Estate Vineyard
Experience an Italian-themed evening with fine wines, authentic cuisine, and live music.

Sample a range of modern amaros and learn about their production.

Sunset Cocktails and Vodka Tasting at Summer Land Camels

Sunday, June 1

 

8:00 am – 11:00 am: Meet the makers, sample seasonal delights, and shop directly from the growers. Here’s some of the stalls:

  • Jaimi Lee Pennell – Forgotten Sound Farm – farm fresh seasonal veggies and flowers
  • Picnic Real Food Bar – locally made cakes, jams, dressings and more!
  • Curated by North Stores – an assortment of fresh, seasonal produce from local growers across the mountain
  • Morgan Fuery – The Drunken Farmhand – a variety of pickles using an old brine recipe and technique, including chutneys, small batch sauces, and mulled red wine pears
  • Rachel Guymer – Jasmine Urban Farm – seedlings, seed bombs and herbal teas
  • Thomas Drewett – Loborn – with their hand crafted Amaro, Vermouth and Gin inspired and produced on Tamborine Mountain
  • Matthew Brown – Farming on 15 degrees – local honey, tastings, and observation hives
  • Coleen Benstead – Oaky Creek Road Providers – a variety of jams, marmalades, pickles, relishes, chutneys and butters
  • Jennifer White – Pine Tree Pocket Pantry – peanut butter, dehydrated sourdough starter, infused salts – chilli, lemon and pepper, and mango chutney
  • Helen Roebig and Jess Bickerstaff – Vanbery Jam Co – rosella products including jam, paste, syrup, coulis and tea.
  • Quintin & Amy – Kai Kai Farm – organic no-spray gourmet mushrooms, kits & supplies, and organic bokashi bran.
  • The Green Shed Collective – avocados, citrus , bananas, garlic, ginger, chilies and rhubarb.
