Public Education Foundation welcomes new CEO, Dr Manisha Amin

The Public Education Foundation (PEF) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Manisha Amin as its new Chief Executive Officer. Manisha joins PEF at a time of strong momentum, as the organisation stands ready to embrace new opportunities for expansion and progress. Her leadership will be instrumental in guiding the Foundation’s next phase, strengthening support for students, teachers, and principals in public schools across Australia.

A highly experienced and respected executive, Manisha has held senior roles in organisations including the Centre for Inclusive Design, Barnardos Australia, and the Cancer Council. Her background spans technology, education, health, environment and community sectors—always with a focus on social purpose, innovation, and inclusion. Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the Foundation.

A proud graduate of the public education system, Manisha is passionate about equity in education and deeply committed to the Foundation’s mission. Her collaborative leadership style, strategic mindset, and strong track record in stakeholder engagement—including with government—make her the right person to lead the Foundation into its next chapter.

“I’m honoured to join the Public Education Foundation at such a pivotal time,” said Dr Amin. “Education has the power to change lives, and I’m excited to work alongside the Foundation’s dedicated team, partners and supporters to open up even more opportunities for young people and educators in public education across Australia.”

In welcoming Manisha, David Hetherington, PEF’s Board Chair, expressed confidence in her ability to enhance the Foundation's impact, stating, “The Public Education Foundation is thrilled to welcome Dr. Manisha Amin as our new CEO. Her leadership will be instrumental in increasing the Foundation’s impact -  building on our strong foundations and creating new pathways for success in public education across Australia.”

The Foundation is looking forward to the fresh perspective and energy Manisha will bring to our work.
