The Voices of Africa: DeBruin Gospel Project in Australia to celebrate Africa Day

Brave Media < 1 mins read

Blending contemporary gospel with traditional African choral styles, the Di Bruin Gospel Project captivates audiences with their signature clap-and-tap rhythms, reminiscent of South Africa’s Apostolic churches from the 1960s.

For the very first time in Australia, the award winning ensemble will share the rich stories of South Africa and celebrate the legacy of Nelson Mandela with a powerful and uplifting message through music.

Founded by the dynamic Mr. Brown Mosiapoa affectionately known as ‘Di Bruin Di Bruin’, this award-winning radio personality created the choir during the pandemic to unite communities through the universal language of music, spreading messages of hope and healing in uncertain times.

After appearing at the Australia and New Zealand South African Film Festival 2025 in Brisbane and a brief stopover in Sydney to perform exclusively at NSW Parliament, the choir is now taking their heavenly sounds to Melbourne!

Part of the tour proceeds will go towards charitable causes that will benefit children in South Africa, and to provide art and music therapy for young people from refugee backgrounds in Australia.

Africa Day is celebrated annually on 25 May to commemorate the organisation of African Unity.

Government buries second Deloitte report as language services crisis drains billions from hospitals, schools and vital public services

Professionals Australia says the Federal Government is ignoring its own economic advice by burying a second Deloitte report that confirms chronic underpayment in the translating and interpreting sector is already wasting billions of taxpayer dollars every year. The new Deloitte analysis, quietly posted online without any sector briefing, warns that sub-optimal interpreting is costing between $738 million and $1.3 billion per year and is projected to blow out to $1.6 to $2.0 billion annually by 2035 if the Government continues to do nothing. Professionals Australia CEO Sam Roberts said the findings confirm what workers and communities have been saying for…
