Allied Health professionals across South Australia are mobilising this week in a series of rallies and stop work actions, urging the State Government to honour its commitment to a standalone Allied Health Enterprise Agreement (EA).
The Health Services Union SA/NT (HSU SA/NT) is leading the charge, emphasising that this is a pivotal moment to secure long-overdue recognition and tailored conditions for the sector.
Currently, Allied Health workers are covered under the South Australian Public Sector Salaried Agreement, which does not adequately address the specific needs and roles of professionals such as physiotherapists, radiographers, social workers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, psychologists, pharmacists, and sonographers.
This lack of specialised recognition has led to calls for a separate EA that acknowledges the distinct value these professionals bring to the healthcare system.
Allied Health professionals have now been in negotiations with the State Government for more than nine months. Throughout this time, workers have shown patience and commitment, balancing their passion for delivering high-quality care with the need to advocate for fairer conditions. But this process cannot drag on indefinitely.
It’s time for the Government to conclude these negotiations with a fair and respectful agreement so that our members can get on with their lives and their work — without being forced to continue fighting for the basic recognition they deserve.

Regional members across all six local health networks will participate in coordinated stop-work actions at their local sites from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

Northern Adelaide workers from NALHN and Modbury will rally at the LMH site on the corner of Oldham and Haydown Roads.
