CASA scholarships recognise up and coming aircraft engineers

Civil Aviation Safety Authority 2 mins read

Australian aviation safety has received a welcome boost, with 3 aspiring aircraft maintenance engineers (AMEs) awarded Civil Aviation Safety Authority scholarships.

Worth up to $5,000 each, the scholarships help recipients fast-track their career, gain the skills and experience they need to become licensed aircraft maintenance engineers, as well as unlock exciting opportunities in the aviation industry.

Aaron Pollard, Jacob Mani and Hudson Dagge are this year’s deserving recipients.

Based in Queensland, Aaron Pollard was chosen for his dedication to completing his apprenticeship early. He is passionate about becoming a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer and likes to take a proactive approach to safety, problem-solving and his own learning.

With almost 20 years of experience in the aviation industry, Jacob Mani’s life has revolved around aircraft, taking up his apprenticeship after high school and now working for Jetstar at Brisbane Airport.

And with a displayed commitment to safety, Hudson Dagge is based in Perth working for the Royal Flying Doctors Service. He’s committed to ensuring aircraft are meticulously maintained to reach remote pockets of Western Australia.

CASA Chief Executive Officer and Director of Aviation Safety, Pip Spence, commended the recipients for their dedication and professionalism.

‘These individuals stood out in a very competitive field,’ Ms Spence said.

‘They’ve demonstrated a strong commitment to aviation safety and a genuine passion for their chosen career path.

‘All 3 have shown initiative and technical aptitude and have actively promoted a positive safety culture within their workplaces or the broader aviation industry.

‘Well done to Hudson, Aaron and Jacob on their achievements to date. We look forward to seeing their continued contributions as they progress in their careers.’

CASA’s aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) scholarship program supports those already undertaking structured training toward a licence, as well as industry professionals gaining hands-on experience.

‘This campaign highlights the importance of engineers in aviation,’ Ms Spence said.

‘By showcasing their technical expertise and attention to detail, we hope to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in aircraft maintenance.’
