Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, as Patron of the leading
humanitarian organisation dedicated to child rights and girls’ equality.

Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of
Australia, said:

“I am honoured to become Patron of Plan International Australia, an organisation at the
forefront of global efforts to uplift and transform the lives of girls. There is no greater catalyst for global change; when girls are empowered, entire societies thrive.

“Plan International’s commitment to ensuring every child has a positive start in life, regardless of the circumstances they are born into, exemplifies the spirit of fairness and equality that
underpins Australian society.

“I look forward to supporting Plan International’s humanitarian mission and to seeing more girls take steps toward reaching their full potential.”

CEO of Plan International Australia, Susanne Legena, welcomed the announcement,

everywhere.”

About Plan International Australia

Plan International Australia is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that
advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every
child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, supporters, and partners, we strive for a just
world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support
children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood, and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national, and global levels using our reach, experience, and knowledge.

For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all
children in more than 80 countries. We won’t stop until we are all equal.

Emergency Child Care Wage Audit Needed

Emergency Child Care Wage Audit Needed Is government policy working? The Federal Government should order an immediate review of its Early Childhood Educator retention payment and urgently audit its effectiveness. Western Australia Senator Fatima Payman suspects reported drastic staffing problems are being caused by the government undervaluing the workforce, and possible rorting by profit-driven childcare companies. "The elephant in the room when it comes to early childhood education and care is that we undervalue this relatively feminised industry, and underpay its extraordinarily hardworking staff," Senator Payman said. "If we pay higher wages and benefits," Senator Payman said, "we could attract…

RBA misses opportunity to provide relief

ACOSS is deeply disappointed by today’s decision by the Reserve Bank of Australia to leave interest rates on hold, saying there is a missed crucial opportunity to deliver relief to millions of people doing it tough. “Today’s decision is a blow for millions of people in Australia on low and modest incomes who are struggling to cover the basics,” ACOSS Acting CEO Jacqueline Phillips said. “It means that it will take longer to restore growth in jobs and wages after a decade of stagnation. “With inflation now well within the target range, there is no justification for keeping rates at…
