New registration system for the combat sports industry

In a major boost for the NSW combat sports industry, the NSW Government has today launched a new registration system that makes it simpler, faster and easier to participate in combat sports.

 

The new system will be hosted by Licence NSW and can be accessed from the Service NSW website using a MyServiceNSW account email address.

 

The system includes Australia’s first combat sports public register and a number of other features, including a streamlined digital application process, email and SMS notifications and secure mobile access 24/7.

 

The new registration system is part of suite of reforms to improve safety and reduce red tape under the Combat Sports Amendment Bill 2024.

 

Other reforms that came into force in late May included new powers for combat sports inspectors to conduct inspections where breaches of combat sports regulations may have occurred, changes to the definition of amateur and professional contests and new matchmaking requirements for promoters.

“The health and safety of combatants is the Authority’s priority.

 

“The new registration system, which includes Australia’s first combat sports public register, is a gamechanger for combat sports in NSW that eases the administrative burden on promoters and combatants.

 

“Not only does it make it simpler, faster and easier to participate in combat sports but, coupled with additional reforms that recently came into force under the Combat Sports Amendment Bill 2024, NSW is now one of the safest jurisdictions in Australia.”
